Topic: Medical Marijuana, Should it be Legalized?

1. For my research paper, I will be looking at all aspects of whether or not Medical Marijuana should be legalized. Where I stand right now before doing this research, is that the drug should be allowed for the people that ACTUALLY need it. If it was for recreational use, I am completely against the drug except for the fact that the economy is down way under where it should be and this drug could possibly boost it back up. Other than that, the drug is very addicting, causes memory loss, and makes people forget about the actual real values of life and the potential to how successful they could become when older.

2. This topic is very relevant to me because I have several family members that could benefit from using the drug. The most important person in my family that could benefit is my uncle because he has multiple eating disorders and this drug allows you to eat even when you are not in the mood for some food. This topic is relevant to the greater community because I know many people that experience with the drug that get arrested for getting possession charges. These peoples lives would be much less stressful if the drug were to be legalized. I am against it in the fact that it has caused me to lose many more friends than I could have imagined. It makes people completely forget about what is actually important to them.

3. The two groups that stand for this argument are:

· The people that will benefit from the drug health wise and the people that enjoy experiencing with drug. People could obviously benefit from the drug by relieving pain or what not but sometimes addicts will use that as a crutch to gain access to the drug because they are so strongly addicted. Addicts 90 percent of the time don’t even know how serious their addictions are. But the economy could actually benefit from the drug because many people would be interested in a few or more purchases of it and if a tax is placed on the drug the economy could gain a great amount of money rather than having “private” drug dealers handing out the illegal substance.

· The people that are against the drug such as the government (even though the economy could benefit from it) and the people that don’t enjoy using the drug. Police officers make a lot of their money off of drug busts. It could potentially eliminate multiple jobs in the world for the specific individuals that are out to get drug abusers. People that lose friendships or anything important to them could also be possible selections for humans against the legalization. This is because of bad experiences that they most likely do not want anyone else to experience.

Narrowing Down the Topic

After doing some research, I have finally narrowed down my topic to whether or not marijuana should be legalized. Throughout this process of research, I will be looking at all possible benefits of the drug, the negative effects from the drug, the effect it could possibly have on our economy, what effect it has on humans if the drug is overly abused, and many many more things. It is a very interesting topic and the question has been up in the air ever since the drug was put down as illegal.

Reactions to this tutorial process

First off, I'd like to start off by saying that I have decided to do research on Medical Marijuana. Although I do not personally use or condone the drug, I do believe that there are many benefits to it. There is no way for me to benefit from it which is why I do not take part in doing such festivities. But I know many people that are old and even young that can possibly benefit from such a legalization. Although, in my paper, I will also get into detail on the negative effects of the drug.

Now about this whole tutorial process; it is certainly much better than going to Google.com and trying to find articles. It is much better than any source that has been given to me for assistance back in high school or middle school. So yes, I do believe that this whole online librarian thing is very beneficial to assisting me in doing my research. I would most definitely use it again and throughout the course of my research for the project.

More About the Writer

I attended Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland where I participated in both Varsity Lacrosse and Varsity Golf. On the golf team, I contributed to a county championship with County Records and a runner-up finish at the state tournament. As for lacrosse, my sophmore year we made it to the State Semi-finals where we lost to the State Champion Severna Park Falcons. Junior Year, we made it to the State-finals where we faced the Falcons again and unfortunately lost again. Senior Year, where I actually contributed to the team with 30 goals and 26 assists, we made it to the State Semi-finals and lost to the Dulaney Lions. But it is the memories from these athletics and scholastics in high school that keep me going all the time. Above is also a picture of me, my teammates, coaches, and principal of my high school being noticed by the county to be the first team to make it to the state finals and first team to win 3 county championships in a row.

Schreiber's Past Experiences

My first topic I experienced with is when I became a Washington Wizards fan. My father took me to a game back in my freshman year of high school where the Washington Wizards went head to head up against my favorite team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Being a Sixers Fan since birth, I never came to the game with any expectations to ever root for the Wizards. Well my Father has one of the coolest jobs in the world where he interviews athletes. Following the Wizards victory of the Sixers, my Father introduced me to his world. He took me down on the court and into the Wizards locker room to meet some of the players. It was then that I was introduced to Gilbert Arenas, my new favorite athlete. As I met him, he turned into his locker to grab something, it was his shoes that he wore that night. He then handed them to me asking if I had a sharpie. Quick to act, my Father pulled one out of his coat pocket and handed it to him. He then signed the shoes. Ironically, Gilbert Arenas attended the University of Arizona, the same school I attend today. Ever since that night I have been a die-hard fan of the Washington Wizards.

Research

Research is looking in different places to find certain interests. I use it whenever I am doing a project, looking at sports scores, looking at sports rumors, looking at the cheapest place to buy things online, and anything that I need to do to amuse me. The purpose of it is to enable and assist someone in learning about what they are interested in.
